5 days

Yep...5 Days until we go to Lake Powell. I am sooooo excited! I have lots of things to do this week to get ready. I'm looking forward to a week without work. Full of reading, playing board games with the family, swimming, and jet-skiing!!! It's going to be so hot. This last week it's been about 105 and up. That is so crazy. I'm a little nervous though. I get cranky when I'm hot, and we'll see how being stuck on a houseboat with my family for a week will be. It should be fine, I mean I do love my family. We joke about it being like survivor, but instead of kicking people off the island, we'll kick them to the island (beach.) I've discovered that I absolutly LOVE going on our wave runners! They are SO much fun. We went up to Willard Bay yesterday, just Mom, Doug, Seth, Martin, and I. I was kinda cranky going up there, but as soon as I went out onto the water, it made everything better. So that will be my quick fix if I'm upset at Lake Powell, I'll just get out on the water and go forever.

Hunger Pains

Today was my cousin Becky's mission farewell. She is going to the Argentina Buenos Aires (North?) mission. She gave a really good talk in sacrament meeting. I'm very proud of her! When I was younger I always thought I would be the one out of my girl cousins to go on a mission, but Becky, and my other cousin Camille are the ones going. Isn't it crazy how life turns out sometimes. After Sacrament meeting we went back to my Aunt Ruth's house and had a luncheon. I got to hold my cousin Deanne's one-month-old baby boy for almost an hour. He slept the whole time. I'm tellin' ya, if all babies ever did was sleep I would jump on the bandwagon!! As soon as he started crying I handed him off to Gayla. He only cried for a minute, and I got to hold him again before I left. He was such a good baby, that it definitely made me half-way consider having a baby. After Keri has her baby and goes back to work again, my sister is going to watch the baby, so I told her that she needs to call me one day when he's being really fussy so I can see how it really is, and get it out of my system. I have to admit though seeing all these babies and people pregnant, is starting to make me pretty baby hungry, which is definitely a bad thing.

Hiking Timpanogos Cave

Seth's boss Derrick and his family are moving to Nebraska, so as a last outing, he invited Seth, Martin, and I to hike Timpanogos Cave. They had been there and Seth had been there, but Martin and I hadn't. That is a picture of us before we started hiking at 9:50. They give you about an hour and a half to get up to the cave. So our time to go in the cave was 11:20. Notice in the picture I am wearing my favorite pants, just keep that in mind for later in the story. Martin was the designated picture taker so admire his wonderful pictures.

This is a cheesy picture of us under the sign before you go into the cave. I hate the way I look in that picture so I put the next one here too, I look a little bit better. It was 43 degrees in the cave, our guide told us. I was glad I brought a sweatshirt. (explanation of why I'm wearing the backpack like it is my unborn child; it was a pretty narrow walkway and we had to duck because we weren't suppose to touch the formations.)

This is my favorite picture inside the cave. It's called the heart rock formation, and it comes complete with an indian legend. The hike up to the cave was really hard and I thought I was going to die. The hills were really steep, and it was incredibly hot, but it was worth it to see the cave. The way down was a lot easier. Everything was going great, until I tripped on some uneven pavement and fell. It was awful! I felt like such a dork, but I didn't cry, I wanted to but I was a tough girl. I scraped up both my hands, tore a big hole in the knee of my favorite pants, and my knee is all banged up. I tried to take a picture of it, but it hurts worse than it really looks. It's right below my knee right on the shin bone, so it's all bruised. Martin was so proud because he was the first one up and the first one down. After we got down the mountain, we had lunch at this great picnic area right by the river. It was a great day, even though I did almost fall off the mountain.

All about our fun weekend

So I had a blast over the weekend, but none of it turned out how it was planned. We're not good planners in our family, but hey, it was fun anyway. Martin had to pick up his paycheck in Salt Lake at about 4:30. Wendy came and picked me up from there, and we went shopping, while Martin went home to help Seth pack. Wendy and I were in charge of the food, so the first place we went was.....Old Navy. HA! We had some time to kill so we played first. We did go get food after that. Hot dogs and CANDY! It was great. Then we went back to Wendy's house and waited for the boys. They got there about 8:00, we sat and played with the dogs for a bit. Seth's tire had a big bubble in it because the tread was almost all gone so we took Wendy's car instead. We decided to go up Cottonwood Canyon because it was lots closer than American Fork and it was already late. I thought "oh it's just right up the canyon, we'll be there in like 20 min. 45 minutes later, I was WAY carsick from the winding roads, and we reached the first campsite place where they informed us the whole canyon was full. So it was back down the winding canyon. The result of the night. Hotdogs over a stove and sleeping in Wendy's sisters backyard! It was SO much fun. The next day we went down to the Peterson reunion. It was fun. We took the dogs, and they were a hit. Everybody loved them, and the dogs loved all the attention from the kids. We ended up not going to the waterpark, or out to the lake, but we did go back to Wendy's house to play in her pool it was a great way to cool off. We put the spare tire on Seth's car, and then drove the back roads from Sandy to Layton. It took about two hours, but we made it. All in all I thought it was a great weekend even if it didn't turn out the way we had planned it. Oh and I didn't take any pics with my camera, sorry!

Fun weekend in the forecast!

I'm so excited for this weekend! We are going camping tonight up American Fork Canyon. Then tomorrow we have a Peterson family reunion at this cool water park in Provo. After that we are going out to Utah Lake to play with the wave runners, and we're taking the dogs with us! I'm so excited! It's going to be a jam packed weekend YAY! I'll remember to take my camera to post some fun pics when I get back.

Shamu

So I have a funny story that is worth some note in this here blog. So the other night Martin, Seth and I were having a conversation about killer whales and what makes their fins flop over, I searched online and found the answer. I then was looking up Sea World, how much it would cost etc. I love Sea World! I've been their twice when I went to Disneyland and almost enjoyed Sea World better. I have a weird facsination with dolphins and whales they scare me but I think they're cool, it's hard to explain. In my search I found this website www.shamu.com it has a webcam where you can watch killer whales. I think it is just the coolest thing ever. (here's the funny part) I was with Seth and Martin they were watching tv and I was enthralled with watching "shamu" float around, and without thinking I said "I wish I was a whale." Seth just had a hayday. Saying things like oh you already are fat like one. I meant I wanted the life of the whale he looked so peaceful and carefree floating upside down and things. Anyway he told the family, and now I am the butt of everyones jokes, and since we are going to Lake Powell in a couple weeks I'll never hear the end of it. Check out the website though it's really breathtaking, they swim right up by the camera it's so awesome.

Random

I didn't ever hear from Babies R Us so I guess that means I didn't get the job. I guess that's ok, but still it's a let down. I haven't heard back from Westaff either but I'm giving them a little bit longer to get back to me. Anyway, I taught Abbi and Puck to sit!! It was actually pretty easy. I can teach them to sit in like an hour, but they are still peeing in the house. It makes me so mad. Guess what?! Brockton was ordained as a deacon yesterday! Can you believe it?! He's so old. I'm so old. My cousin Keri had her baby shower on Saturday. She's having a boy at the end of August. She's so cute pregnant. She's still wearing her regular clothes, she barely looks pregnant. I know I'm not going to look that cute when I'm pregnant. They are naming it Aiden Patrick Mead. My other cousin, Keri's older sister Deanne, just had a baby boy named Nash Brek, kinda weird I know, but he is a cute baby. I got to hold him when I was there. I would have a baby right now if all they did was sleep, that's when they are the cutest. I like the names Cadence Nicole, and call her Cadi (Katie.) Our fist boy will be Aaron Martin after my dad (aaRON) and then I love the name Brityn, I haven't found a middle name for that one tho. Anyway this blog was very random. Sorry.

Job interviews

I think I did ok. Better than some of my other interviews that I've had. They had a group interview first and then an individual interview. I think I did fairly well at the individual. I gave some pretty dang good answers, but the group interview sucked. We played get to know you games and did some role play stuff. I'm pretty shy around new people and it takes me a while to loosen up, so I don't think I did so well at that. They told everyone they would be making a decision within 48 hours (Sat.) and if we don't hear anything they decided to "go in a different direction" So we'll see tomorrow. I also went in to Westaff, a staffing company and did a pre-assesment thing to work at UPS. I type 52 words a minute and I aced the pre-test that had math questions and state questions. It was really easy. They also said they would get back to me with a second interview. The thing is tho, I leave for Lake Powell for a family vacation in less than a month, so either I start before and have to take a week off in the middle of training, or I start when I get back. Both of which are an inconvenience for employers. So now it's just a waiting game for both.

"I can do anything in these shoes, I'm getting that job"

These are the shoes! Aren't they great? I have an interview today and I needed shoes. They were only $15 at Wal-mart! I love them. After I got them I told Martin "I can do anything in these shoes, I'm getting that job." It's just an interview for Babies R Us. I'm not sure if it's an upgrade or downgrade from Convergys. I think I'll like the work better at BRU, but it's less pay than C. I usually suck at interviews, but I hope I do well.
Ok now more puppy pictures. I just can't get enough of them. Look at those eyes and that tongue! She's so dang cute.
Yeah he looks innocent. Mr Trouble. He likes socks. If he gets out of wherever we have him, he will run to one of our rooms and inevitably find a sock, and then he knows he's not suppose to have it so he'll take off running. It's pretty hilarious.

About time!

I finally have pictures of Puck that I have been meaning to put on here. There he is. he isn't quite as cute as Abbi, but I'm partial. He's so smart, if we put him in a confined space, he'll get out. It's pretty funny. Seth is SO cute with Puck. He loves him and holds him and talks baby talk to him. The dogs are like our babies. It is good practice for us.

We have had Abbi for one month already. Here is a before picture of Abbi when we first got her.

And here is the After. She is 11 pounds now. When I first took her into the vet I think she was like 6.4 pounds, and it's only been 4 weeks. It's just crazy!

Ok now for some crazy pictures. We went to Willard Bay on Saturday with my Mom and Doug's Wave Runners. They got them a few weeks ago, and we just love them. The whole family spent from about 2-9 there. We had a blast, but in having so much fun Martin and I forgot sunscreen. I didn't get it so bad because I don't really like to be in the water I just sit on a blanket in the shade and take the wave runners out a couple times, and I'm happy. Martin, on the other hand is an animal. He spent nearly all his time out in the sun. So on Sunday, he was complaining about his sunburn that it hurt him a lot. I was like "Oh, yeah whatever, I've been sunburnt before it's not that bad" no sympathy at all. Then that night he took of his shirt and here's what happened. Viewer discretion is advised.

so needless to say, I feel really really guilty.
