Brockton's Day

(I had this post a few days ago, but blogger was having issues, so I'm just now getting around to posting this.)
Today was Brockton's special day. He spent the night last night. We went to the store and got junk food and came home and watched Field of Dreams. It's a classic and Brock had never seen it before. This morning he watched tv, played guitar hero on my DS, and played Halo until we were ready to go to our movie. KUNG FU PANDA! We loved it! So hilarious and I love Jack Black. Then we had lunch and played some more games before I took him home.

It was so much fun to have him around and spend time with him. It's so crazy to see him grow up. He's like a little brother to me, and it makes me feel so old to see how old he is.

June 17

Happy (Belated) Birthday to Brockton! He's 14 now. That is so crazy to me. He's all grown up and teenager-y. All popular and in Jr. High.

I've decided to have a niece/nephew and aunt days this summer using a little of our stimulus check. I used to take them one by one before school started and would buy them an outfit and go to lunch. They used to love that, so I'm doing it again. I think I'll incorporate a sleepover and go get them after work, stay up late watching movies and eating junkfood. Then the next day we can do basically whatever they choose. Go bowling, swimming, to the arcade, to the movies, just whatever. I'm quite excited about it.

Allie and Nathan came over again on Tuesday. We had a lot of fun. The pool at my apartment complex is finally open so they went swimming. I got a few fun pictures of them. It was nice for me to sit there and read in the shade. We were the only ones there for a while, then another family came and then a family came with like 6 kids, so we left.

This picture was cool, too bad I cut off his head. Nathan found a butterfly.
and he picked it up. (see how Allie is looking at me to see if I'm going to yell at him. Too funny.)

Brother

So my brother Seth just made a blog! I'm super excited and I hope that he posts often. I love the name of his blog. Check it out! Also, Seth's birthday was this last week and Gayla, all of the kids, and I took him cake. Gayla has a post and pictures on her blog about it. In other news my sister is awesome. I was having a pretty crappy morning and called her because I knew she would understand how I was feeling and make me feel better.

Last night Martin went to go get Kevin from Provo last night so they could spend some brotherly time together. It was fun having Kevin overnight. I'm glad that I've had this time to get to know him and am incredibly excited for his upcoming wedding and that he'll be in America. I really admire his quiet spirituality, and am glad that he has made Martin and I another step closer to going back to church. Whitney drove up this afternoon and we all went out to dinner. She is so much fun! She asked me to be one of her bridesmaids. I'm very excited! I've never been a bridesmaid before. I hope that she knows that I'm willing to help with anything she needs.

On a completely unrelated note has anyone seen that Ava/Rebecca from Greys Anatomy is starring in her own sitcom on ABC this fall, and she's in the new Twilight movie coming this winter. I am really not fond of her. And has anyone heard all the goings on with Katherine Heigl (Izzy from GA) She is really on my last nerve. I hope they give her what she wants and kick her off the show. She's been bugging me for a while now, before all this drama started.

A week in the life

I have a horrible memory, I totally should have blogged sooner about the rest of our week with Monika. We mostly just hung out, and watched a lot of movies. Monika said that she would rather just experience our everyday life instead of running different places seeing different things. I never realized how boring our life really is. We are really homebodies.
Thursday we met Kevin and Whitney in Salt Lake at the Gateway, and then we went to Temple Square. It was so much fun. I forgot my camera, but Kevin had his, so I have pictures.
Kevin and Whitney kissing.
Martin and I showing them how it's done.

I love this picture of these two. They are just so perfect for each other.
After Temple Square, Kevin came back home and spent the night at our house, and we went over Immigration Visa things. It felt nice that I could help him out and give him advice.
Friday we went down to Whitney's house/dorm for dinner. She made fantastic chicken enchiladas, spanish rice, and a yummy slushy drink.
Saturday Monika Martin and I went to the Solomon Center in Ogden.
Sunday is when Monika went home. It was really sad to see her go. Martin had a hard time and teared up a bit. He's always seen himself as one who has to take care of his family, so it was hard for him to watch his mom walk away and not be able to help her. It was even sadder to come home to our quiet empty house. I never realised how lonely it really is, and what we are missing. It was so nice to be able to have someone always there to talk to, even though I don't talk very much, it was nice to get advice from her and get to know her better. Abbi missed her as well. Monika took her for a walk every day. Something I've tried to keep up on.
Saturday was Nathan's Baptism. It was wonderful and am very proud of him.
Today I had Allie and Nathan come to my house while Sara went to work. I had lots of fun. We watched a couple movies and went swimming at the Clearfield Aquatic Center. In the car on the way home Nathan was pretty cute. On his baptism day per tradition, my mom gave him a card with two pennies on it. One dirty one from the year Nathan was born, and a clean shiney one from this year, symbolizing baptism and how it washes sins away. So today in the back of my car I had some change sitting there and he found a dirty quarter and a shiney nickel and was saying that he was like the nickle. I always think its so fun to overhear kids talking and hear their take on things.
