It's about time!

So I guess now that we've announced to the world that we are expecting a little Baby Banner in April, it's time to update my blog.

Where to begin.... I forgot to fill my birth control prescription for July so we just decided it was time to start trying. I didn't think we would get pregnant our first month, but the not knowing was driving me crazy so on 6th of August I convinced Martin that we should buy a pregnancy test after I got off work. The test started turning positive right away, but I left it on the counter and walked away and was freaking out. Martin stayed in the other room while I went and got the PT, I think I told him something like "...Babe...I think we're pregnant...." I handed him the test and the instructions, and he just looked at them for probably over a minute then he just smiled.

Martin wanted to wait until after we had seen a doctor to tell anyone, but I told him I couldn't wait. So he told his parents and I told Mom and Doug the next day. Telling my Mom was fun for me. We went over to their house, and while Martin was answering some computer questions for Doug, Mom needed to fold some towels, so I followed her and pulled up the picture on my phone of the positive pregnancy tests, and told her I had a picture for her and handed her the phone. She just cried and laughed and hugged me.

Usually once a month my family gets together at someones house for dinner, but we weren't going to have one in August due to scheduling conflicts with vacations and everything, but I wanted to tell everyone at the same time, so I called everyone and told them we were having it the next night at Mom's house. That tipped Sara and Jason off, but they didn't say anything until after we told everyone. So my due date is just a couple days after BriAnn and Gayla's birthday so to tell everyone I wrapped up a package of onesies, and pacifiers and gave it to Gayla to unwrap telling her I had a present for her, but couldn't wait until her birthday to give it to her.

Martin recorded the whole thing on his iPhone, I have it on the computer, but it's upside down. I'll have Martin try to fix it when he gets home. Her reaction was priceless. Sara and Jason, and Seth and BriAnn were giving me suspicious looks when I gave her the present, but Gayla had NO clue.

I only told a couple more people then decided to keep it quiet until after my first appointment. I haven't had a lot of symptoms the main one being fatigue. Not any real morning sickness but feeling nauseous all day. The only times I have thrown up is when I take my prenatal vitamins. I take them at night right before I go to bed, but the next morning I'll throw up.

My first appointment was scheduled for September 16th, but I had been having some bleeding this past weekend so I called first thing Monday the 13, and they wanted to get me in that day. I cried all day before the appointment expecting the worst. Martin was working a half day so he was home and was able to be there for the first appointment. I was so thankful to have him there. He's very calming when I start to freak out. He was so positive and reassuring.

So we went in to the doctors office they got us back quickly and took us into the room with the ultrasound machine. I was expecting the jelly stuff to be cold, but they keep it warmed so that was nice. They saw my full bladder first which made me a little nervous because it looks like an empty sack, but they quickly found our little baby. I think I was holding my breath up to that point and I just let out a sigh of relief and cried the whole time. I couldn't believe it. They let us listen to the heartbeat which was amazing. I held Martin's hand the whole time which was so wonderful. It all happened pretty fast, the doctor came in for a couple minutes, so we were able to ask a few questions, but I had a lot more. I didn't even ask what the heart rate was, but my next appointment is in a couple weeks so hopefully I can ask then. They did say that the baby was measuring like a week smaller, but kept my same due date and they'll measure again at the next ultrasound.
