Hairspray

Has anyone seen the movie Hairspray? Martin and I rented it the other day and we love it. I want the soundtrack so bad! John Travolta is hilarious! I didn't know it was him until Martin pointed it out. I love the main girl. Her voice it amazing.
Anyway, here's a picture of my hair. Its not as bad as I thought. I just needed time to adjust.

...it's the best time of the year...

It's been another super busy week. First, Thanksgiving. It was tons of fun. We had it at Mom and Doug's house. There were 19 of us there. Not quite as big as last year, but it was still a pretty full house.

Here are Harli and Sam munching on snacks.

Time for food! (I absolutely LOVE Sam's face in this picture!)

The grown-ups table.

This was going to be our Christmas card picture. It's not anymore.

I wanted to cut my hair so I had my mom do it while she was at my house today. I said I wanted like two inches off the bottom, but my hair is layered. She took two inches off the side, not the back where it's longer. It is SOOO short. It makes me want to cry. It's barely shoulder length now. I wanted a change, but I wasn't ready for THAT big of a change. Oh well right? It'll grow back. Maybe if I dye it it'll make me feel better.

Oh here's another picture of Seth's bruise from Thanksgiving.

Gross huh!

The day after Thanksgiving sale was so insane. Not nearly as bad as I thought it would be, but still crazy. I worked about 16 1/2 hours, we closed an hour earlier than I thought so that was a nice surprise. It was a rough week, but I'm excited for my paycheck. It should almost be double what I usually make. Perfect that it's just before Christmas!

I have the next two days off. It feels like I've been so busy and haven't had a chance to breathe, so I don't know what I'm going to do with myself. Decorate for Christmas maybe.

advent calendar

I've found this blog and I absolutely love it. I love all of the ideas. We'll I saw this advent calendar (the seventh picture down) and had to see if I could do it too. She bought the matchboxes and covered them with Christmas paper. I used one of my cricut cartridges and made the matchboxes. I love how it turned out.

My sister in law gave me the magnet board. So I put magnets on the back of the boxes and made a tree shape out of them I might paint the frame, but I kinda like the color that it is. I haven't decided really.

I still need to add the numbers to them and fill them with Christmas candy or sayings or something. Any ideas? It has to be kinda small and thin, and not too heavy.

I added the ribbon as a pull so you can get into them easier.

thankful

My brother and brother-in-law went up four wheeling Friday. There was a steep hill, Brandon went down first just fine, Seth went to go down the hill and flipped the four wheeler over and it bounced off of him. He's been pretty sore these last couple days. He might have broken his elbow (he's going into the doctor tomorrow) and he has this NASTY bruise on his leg.

That's where the four wheeler hit him. It's pretty crazy! I've been making fun of him all weekend because he's so slow when he walks and he can't really move his elbow much, but truthfully, I am just really glad that he's ok.

update: Seth did break his elbow. It's just a small break so he doesn't have a cast, just a sling. If it was only a tiny bit bigger he would have had to have surgery to put pins in it. Pretty scary!

A Cricut Christmas

Today was my day off so I spent a little time with the Cricut.
This is what I made.

It was fairly easy to make.

Pretty time consuming though. (2 hours at least)

One week to Thanksgiving! What does everyone have planned?

uber post

It feels like it's been forever, but I guess it hasn't. I think it's because I've been so busy I haven't had time to spend online and check all the blogs. A lot has been going on.

1- The main reason I've been busy is I've been playing with my new toy.

It's called the Cricut. It cuts out words and shapes. It's pretty much amazing. I'm in love. I know I should have waited until Christmas, but our big scrapbooking weekend was last week, and I wanted to take it with me.

2-Here are some adorable cards I made last night.
...and my favorite...

3-And some scrapbook pages from last week.

I think if I get ambitious today I'll take pictures of all of my scrapbook pages I've been working on and upload them to my picture site.

4- Yesterday Seth had off work so we cleaned up the backyard and the dogs played in the leaves. Puck actually enjoyed it and stayed there. We had to convince Abbi to stay still for some pictures. I think they are gorgeous pictures. I can't wait to scrapbook them.

5-We may have found an apartment in Bountiful. We wanted to go look at it yesterday, but they don't have any available until December. They are going to give us a call when we can go see it From the pictures online and the floor plan it looks amazing. 1400 square feet townhouse. 2 floors and an unfinished basement with the washer/dryer hookups. They look kind of old and outdated, but interesting and different at the same time. I can't wait to go see.

6- Most of you have heard of or experienced the Day-After-Thanksgiving-Sales or Black Friday here in Utah. If you haven't, your missing out. I usually go along with my sisters just because I like to watch all the crazy people and laugh at them. Now that I'm working for RS I get to experience it from the sales associate point of view. I'm pretty excited actually. Except for the part that everyone in my store has to work from open to close. We have to be there at 5:00am (open at 6:00) and we close at 10:00pm. If you work out the hours, that is 17 of them. Granted we either get two 1 hour breaks or one 2 hour break, but still. That's going to be a LONG day.

7- It's a sad day here in my world. It's raining. This past week has been such gorgeous weather, and I think today marks the end of that. Now we have to look forward to frost, snow, and rain from here on out. Sad, sad day. The only redeemable feature of winter is Christmas.

8- Christmas is my favorite holiday. I'm so excited! Only 6 weeks away!! The day after Halloween I pulled out the Christmas music. If I waited until after Thanksgiving to pull out Christmas music, I'd only have a month of it, and that is just not enough. Mannheim Steamroller is my favorite. They are coming in concert here. I wish I could go.

9- This past week my brother and I cleaned out the bedroom that has been housing all of mine and Martin's stuff that are in boxes. I thought about taking before and after pictures, but I was too embarrassed. It was horrible. You couldn't even walk in the room. And now we have all of the boxes on one half of the room and the other half is my craft room. I love being in there. The dogs like it too.
10- Dang it. I almost had ten things to say...maybe next time.

Remember, remember the Fifth of November...

...the gunpowder treason and plot
I know of no reason
the Gunpowder Treason
should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t'was his intent
To blow up King and Parli'ment.
Three-score barrels of powder below
To prove old England's overthrow;
By God's providence he was catch'd
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, let the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!

It was Guy Fawkes/Bonfire Night last night in England. We tried to re-create it a little bit. I made (attempted to make) caramel apples with Sam. (I so do that tongue thing)

They turned out horrible.

I burnt my finger with the super heated caramel. It actually looked a lot worse later that day. Then it popped. It hurts so bad!
While I was at work Martin went out and bought a fire pit...

and a Guy (and Girl) Fawkes.

So we had our own little bonfire.

With fireworks.
