Optimistic

So, I've finally decided what I want to do with my life, and what career path I want to take. Veterinary Technology. I'm not going so far as to be a Veterinarian. WAY too much schooling=SO not for me! So I'm going to be a Veterinary Technician where I work in the office assisting the Veterinarian. I'm so excited to have such resolve in what I want to do. My problem with Dental Assisting was working with the patients, because when you have your hand in their mouths, you are the one that has to be doing all the small talk, which I'm really not comfortable with or good at. Whereas working in a vets office it's as easy as saying "Oh your dog/pet is so cute" to build an instant relationship with the person. Plus I love animals, as you can probably tell most of my posts have pictures of the dogs. I'd be going to Utah Career College which is about five miles away from my house. They offer financial aide too. (YAY!) Here's a little blurb from their website about the program.

Veterinary Technicians perform both administrative and clinical duties, with a variety of patients from a 10 gram Finch to a 100 pound Rottweiler. If you posses the love and desire to help our "little friends" that can't help themselves then this is the career path for you. Patients and clients rely on you to carry out your responsibilities professionally and proficiently.
The Veterinary world is fast paced. This keeps veterinary technicians on their toes. Your day could involve assisting with surgeries, educating clients about new pets, washing dogs, dispense medication for a patient, and assisting a pet hit by a car all before lunch. Our Veterinary Technology program is designed to prepare our students for the exciting fast paced lives of a veterinary technicians. The Veterinary Technology program is condensed to allow you to quickly enter the job market and achieve your goal.

It looks like summer semester doesn't start until July, which is kind of a let down, since I'm so excited about it now, but I can deal with it. I feel a little guitly for changing from Dental Assisting to this since I was almost halfway done, but aren't college kids suppose to change their major at least once?

Whatever wrong decision you make in life, you will always learn something new which will help you to make the right decisions. At least you have now found what you think is the right career. Well done. Keep us posted.
