Crafting Bug

(Happy Birthday Jason!)

I can't believe it's been almost 2 months since I blogged last. Not much has changed since that last post. I still feel like I'm working too hard, no conclusion to the baby issue, haven't cut my hair yet, and I'm still not a good friend. BUT I have been crafting quite a bit in the last couple months so I'll blog about that.

October 1-3 Mom, Gayla, Sara and I went to a quilting retreat. Every year my Dad's cousins have gotten together and done quilts. There is a theme and everybody makes 20 squares and then the 20 people each get one block from everyone so everyone ends up with 20 different quilt blocks. I hope I explained that ok. It was really fun to see what everyone did with their 20 squares.

Mom's Quilt
The two outer borders are brown, and the pink has stars in it, which was the theme of the quilt squares.

Sara's Quilt
She was the only one out of us that had really done quilts before, it was nice to have someone to ask for help. I love what she did with her border, it turned out SO cute!

Gayla's Quilt
I love her borders too. I love the bright colors and how well it goes with the quilt blocks.

My Quilt
I really like it. It's just a twin size, but it's my quilt. I'm very excited to have it finished so I can use it. Our squares we made are in the four corners of my quilt. Top left is mine, top right is Mom's, bottom left is Sara's and bottom right is Gayla's. It was a really fun experience, and guess what, our family is in charge of it this year...what were we thinking???

Also at the quilting retreat I made these tutu's for Gayla's youngest girls. I really loved how they turned out. I'm not sure if they liked them, but I had fun.

I also had some supplies left over so I made Abbi and Sara's dog Zoe tutu's too.

My latest thing is the Knifty Knitter. I borrowed Kayla's and went a little crazy. I made 5 hats in 5 days, and then ran out of yarn.

Day 1 - Hat 1
Day 2 - Hat 2

Day 3 - Hat 3

I didn't get pictures of the last two. I made another black one and then a smaller hat with the same yarn as the first one. Next up is to learn how to make scarfs.

Martin and I are moving in 8 days. The day after Thanksgiving. It's going to be pretty crazy. I'm not even kinda packed. We are very excited to be moving. It's a bigger apartment 3 bedrooms, a jacuzzi tub, and full size washer and dryer. There is also a trail to walk Abbi on and a dog park.

First off I love the hats, very cute, second, it is crazy that all your quilts look different, yet they are all the same squares. Cool idea to all make squares and trade them.
