So I follow (stalk) a lot of blogs that are out there. I love reading what people have to say and sometimes I get frustrated when they haven't blogged in a while...until I realize my last post was two months ago. I just don't feel like I have anything important or exciting to say, or if I do, no one will care. I'll try to be better.
The holidays were wonderful. Thanksgiving was so much fun. It was an "on" year for us, meaning Jason and Gayla + families were with us this year instead of their inlaws. Seth and I haven't had to worry about that so far. Seth did go to BriAnn's family dinner but we worked it out so we ate a little earlier so they could leave and go to her family. After dinner, (which is always fabulous) this year we watched home movies. It was SO much fun and I hope we make it a tradition to do every year.
Kid table.
Adult's table.
Older kids table. (not the best picture, but we were there.)

Christmas Eve was fantastic this year. Probably one of the best we've ever had. Back just before Thanksgiving, I think, we were deciding what we wanted to do this year. We've struggled with this...should we draw names just the adults and then buy something for all the kids, or all draw names and then the parents of the kids are buying more presents...it's been quite the family drama to say the least. Anyway. We decided to all draw names (except Mom and Doug, they do enough for all of us that we buy them presents regardless.) and then do a homemade Christmas. we only had about a month, but everything turned out so great. At the day after Thanksgiving sales I bought 19 yards of fleece + 2 yards of other fabric to make presents. The reason I think it turned out so well for me is that I really thought about the people I was making the presents for, for longer than just the 20 minutes in the store to buy a conventional gift. Every stitch I thought about them and wondered if they would like it and was just so focused on them.
When we opened the homemade presents we did it one at a time so everyone could take the time and see what everyone else got. I think we all cried the whole time.
Jason--Makayla--a beautiful magnet board/jewelery holder.

Sara--Seth--Wooden thing to hold all his rakes shovels and other tools in his shed

Allie--BriAnn--Blanket

Nathan--Samantha--Table and chair made out of 2x4's painted pink. Cute!

Gayla--Me--Vinyl lettering for our house. It says "We may not have it all together, but together we have it all." very fitting for us I think

Brandon--Nathan--model airplanes

Brockton--Sara--notebook and homemade dance moves

Makayla--Allie--scarf, and notebook with a note inside. I think we cried on this one the most. Allie read the note out loud. Kayla said something about Allie going into 7th grade (!!) soon and that friends will come and go but family will always be there. It was very sweet.

Harli--Martin--Bookmark, picture and pencil holder
